Vista St Clair Apartments - 1. Reviews - Apartments - 1. SW Vista Ave, Goose Hollow, Portland, OR - Phone Number. SW Vista Ave. Portland, OR9. This is an update of a review I did quite awhile ago.
People are friendly office staff very helpful and polite. No moving anywhere for a long time. You remember how Freddy Kruger's victims felt when they woke up in a cold sweat after just having narrowly escaped his clutches? That's the feeling I got when I finally moved out of the Vista St.
The nightmare is finally over. I've never once had any sort of issue with my landlords but here it seemed to be an almost monthly list of issues big and small and few were ever resolved to our satisfaction. There were college parties every weekend, where people smoked weed in the hallways and on the patio, threatened residents that told them to keep it down, and people throwing fireworks at cars in the street. People that had been living in this place for years are now moving out because it has gotten so bad. These are my opinions based on our tenancy, your mileage may vary. Let's just say for now that we have always chosen to live in carefully- selected historic properties, yet this is the most horrific place we have ever lived in, and that's accounting for at least 7 residences in 4 major cities around the US.

Rising rents but no increase in quality or amenities. We actually bought a home with acreage for less than we paid in rent here.
Residents and West Hills neighbors now commonly refer to the building as, . By the time we left we stopped telling people where we lived to avoid embarrassment. Customer service so bad.
New staff very impolite very rude. The young lady and manager they didn't help anything.
Absolutely awful! But slowly and surely the real side of the vista st Clair came out. They have a new staff and they do not know anything!!!! They screwed up my move out date and when I talked to the manager she didn't do anything for me and said they would still charge me for not being able to clean it!!!
I have a full time job, so when I told the staff I wasn't vacating until a certain date I expected it. Now I'm told I have to move out earlier and have to clean it. Not to mention my apartment was run down and old, the walls are paper thin, and overpriced (especially the parking)!! I am so confused by the reviews I am reading about VSC! I am actively trying to find a new place.. Building does have a few spots in front but not enough for the size of the building.
If the tennis court was a pool, that would be awesome.. Most residents are college students but there are some retired people who are nice. If you're a professional who needs to get to bed early, do not live here. There are frequent frat parties on the patio and you will often smell pot in the hallways. The walls are thin enough that you'll hear your neighbors talking and the sound of their tv or videogames. The location is tempting but it's not worth the hassle of living among kids who haven't grown up yet. The good: Location is fantastic.
Views are beautiful. The building and area are safe. The deck is quite nice and the building provides residents with planting boxes. The gym has nice (but minimal) equipment. The carpet is very cheap and after less than 2 years of light use is showing age.
The paint was applied cheaply and poorly. I now have clothing that is stained from contact with the walls (months after the walls were painted). The smell is being covered up with overly flowery air fresheners. But you can't leave your windows open during rain because if there is too much wind and the windows break, you are liable. The water temperature often swings from the setting to scorchingly hot. Depending on neighbours, it could be very loud or very quiet.
They are rarely at the front desk anymore (even during official office hours). When our laundry hamper was used as a trash bin while doing our wash we were told 'that's your fault for leaving the hamper in the laundry room'. When laundry started going missing (read: stolen by other residents), nothing was done about it. When people were bringing pets into the building and smoking in their apartments (both not allowed in this building) nothing was done about it. When our friends' rental car was smashed by another resident while in the building's parking lot (note: visitor parking spots are ~ $1.
This often results in more noise and less respect for other residents' property. These apartments are expensive, even for this area. The amenities are definitely not worth the price. Were I not planning to move to a different city (or country), I'd definitely move. We have lived at the VSC for almost three years now. We moved from the 4th floor to the 7th because we wanted a bigger place but didn't want to leave!
This place is more like a hotel than an apartment building. There's a super helpful front desk that works 7 days a week (usually with two people there), amazing maintenance staff, amazingly friendly tenants, etc.. I can't say enough good things. There's a pretty good amount of elderly people living here, so it's usually quiet, clean, and well kept.. We absolutely love this place, and wish we could just live here forever.
Doesn't allow pets, which is something that bugs us a bit.
